Title:  Accelerating Energy Transition for Sustainable Future   

Abstract:

The enactment of energy transition from non-renewable to renewable energy sources hasgained the attention from world-wide researchers due to rapid depletion of fossil fuel andemission from consumption of fossil fuel has caused significant change in world climate. Consequently, the Paris Agreement has outlined to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reducethe incremental global temperatures and ambitiously envisaged that reaching net zero emission(NZE) by 2050. The global energy jobs related with the power, heat, transport and desalination sectors are expected rise from 57 million (2020) to 134 million by 2050. As such, electricity provider and distributor should play an imperative role in supporting energy transition to sustainability. The investment in energy transition will play a key role in creating an advanced economy, as well as new jobs in area such as electric vehicles (EVs) and renewables power infrastructure, solar system manufacturing and installation, battery storage and clean gasses technologies. In addition, this transition could drive the country to achieve carbon neutral by year 2050, meanwhile ensuring stability and accessibility of supply electricity in the country particularly to the rural with affordable electricity tariff rates, which is in line with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). The challenge to society today concerns ensuring that the energy transition contributes to economic advancement with inclusivity that reflecting the goals of equity, fairness and equality. The energy transition is playing an important role in society and in furthering sustainable economic growth. As the transition happens and society moves towards achieving the goal of net zero emission by year 2050, everybody should be included and no one is to be left behind.
