The energy crisis that had adversely affected Pakistan for over a decade until last year. However, the energy sector at national level is currently undergoing a major transformation. PEECA is playing its role in iterating among the populace the serious need for energy conservation and is working on sustainability and green energy solutions, innovations and insights to accelerate the growth of business in the industry. Government of the Punjab is taking steps to alleviate energy sector through development of indigenous use of energy resources such as coal, hydro, alternative and renewable sources. Government is focused on the generation side and has increased its generation capacity by 10,400 MW to the national grid. It is believed that with the sincere efforts of the government, it is possible to overcome power crisis using two-pronged approach of demand and supply management that can meet Pakistan’s energy needs in a sustainable manner.
Our agency has been actively involved in implementing a number of high impact projects in the province as well as launching an extensive awareness campaign for creating a culture of energy conservation. This conference would be beneficial in providing a platform to industry-academia collaboration.
